Mishap happened yesterday. I was riding on a cross wind area. It was windy but not so bad. I had no idea what flown object hit my helmet as I didn’t see it coming, but whatever the object was, it gave a hard blow on the left side of my helmet and I almost loose control of GD.
Thank god I didn’t drop the bike. However, the result was a broken visor on the right side and I had another shivering wet ride for 360kms as the wind entered my helmet.
19 Sept 2015
A biker friend, Sam hosted me at Smithers yesterday.
Sam had a bike shop named Eye Candy Customs. He helped fixing my broken visor. It should worked temporarily.
Sam then brought me back to his place and I slept in his antic (but still working) motor home. TQ Sam & lovely Sarah for hosting me.
Today will head to Stewart – Hyder crossing. Watch out for the bears.
Another freezing 330kms ride today. How my teeth rattled! For 150kms, I was totally alone on my lane. No vehicle behind or infront of me.
As I was taking a sharp corner, suddenly THERE SHE IS! A bear by the road side about to cross the road! Less than 30m away from me! Goshhh! Lembik lutut aku wei!
Thank god I managed to avoid any collision and there’s no vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Serius suspen betul tadi. Nevertheless, today’s ride must had been one of the most beautiful ride that I had taken.
And ALASKA! Here I comeeeee!
Who needs speed when the view is beautiful? Yamaha FZ150 is good enough for me.
20 Sept 2015
I’m having a severe neck & shoulder pain at the moment but surely no pain no gain. Alhmdulillah, I am now in ALASKA
Thanks for the doa and sorry can’t reply to anything as yet. Internet is very unstable here.
22 Sept 2015
I am now back in Canada. Temperature in Alaska is 10 blow, minus the wind chill. Its too much for me to take as I didn’t have a Gerbing heated jacket nor a heated grip.
All I had are a very painful shoulder and neck, numb fingers which had lost 50% sense to the touch and a helmet with a broken visor which let the cold air in to kiss my face.
Things had not go very good with my nervous system since Day 2 of my ride. My movement tend to be very slow and difficult now due to this problem. Simple tasks such as zipping my jacket and boots are now a tough thing to do and taking so long to do it too.
What more to pitch my tent or to compress my sleeping bag into its cover or to tie my bag on the pillion seat.
Nevertheless, this pic is taken on route 37A. A route which gave me chill every time I wanna take pics as I knew that they are there somewhere.
That is the Salmon Glacier and Bear River. The bears love to fish for salmons here. I had to press my throttle every now and then to make some noise until I’m done with my cam.
Risau juga kot-kot tengah leka amik gambar, tau-tau dia dah terpacak kat belakang. Eyawwwww!
To be here and to actually riding here is a dream come true for me. All this while, I can only enjoy this view from a travel magazine.
But now, I am actually riding right next to this pine forest. I am not looking from the bus or train window from a distance, but the dark forest with the wild animals in it are right next to me.
I spotted another bear about to cross the road yesterday. However this time, the road was long and straight, so I managed to stop quite a distance away and let the bear passed first.
To type this post took about 30mins. My numb fingers aren’t cooperating very well.
23 Sept 2015
Alhmdulillah, just reached here after a 420km wet & freezing ride. I’m sure back in Malaysia at this moment, masjid tengah penuh dengan jemaah, getting ready for solat sunat Aidil Adha manakala di rumah pula, para ibu & isteri sedang menghidangkan makanan.
But sorry kids, mak jauh kat sini.
Nak buat macam mana sebab jumpa sign post ni jam 9.30am masa otw to Jasper, masih time peak hour, banyak kereta lalu lalang.
But I’m doing it reverse way. Hihihi.
Huh! Bukan senang nak pusing dunia ni. Harus berkorban masa, tenaga dan tilam empuk.
There’s a tent in the garden. Thanks uncle for letting me pitch my tent in your compound
25 Sept 2015
These few days, I had been riding from Prince George – Dawson Creek – Grand Prairie – Grande Cache – Hinton – Jasper and now I have reached Blue River.
The weather had not been too friendly to me. Its raining cats and dogs day and night ever since I started my journey, except for yesterday.
Even though yesterday the sun was out, but the wind was strong as I rode in the open field of Alberta. Wheat had been harvested, so theres not much to see in the prairies.
I had no idea that after Grand Prairie, there’s no service or rest area at all for 200kms and I had already used half tank of my fuel!!!
Thank god that my FZ150 is a fuel save motorbike or else, euwww! Menolak la. And because of that too, I create a new personal record for riding without stopping at all for 5.30 hours before taking a short break at Grande Cache.
Lemau giler due to the chill and exhaustion. Then continue for few more hours before reaching my destination for the day. Even though the road was good in Canada, I can’t ride fast due to the load I’m carrying and because of the wind chill.
So wheres the Little House On The Prairie? Ohh noo, not here
Today, it was wet wet wet all the way. Nothing much of Rocky Mountains can be seen as it was covered in thick mist. However I do managed to see antelopes and moose while traversing Jasper National Park.
The first sight of Rocky Mountains seen from Grande Cache
Rocky Mountains covered in thick mist. Banyak ni je yang Allah bagi tenguk. Can you imagine how cold I’m feeling while riding on this road?
Selepas beberapa hari menempuh kesejukan siang dan malam, akhirnya beliau dapat merasai sedikit bahang matahari. Macam ni rupanya bila dah lama tak nampak matahari.
26 Sept 2015
Finally today the sun is shining. Nikmatnya bila dapat rasa panas sinaran matahari kat tempat sejuk ni, korang tau macam mana rasanya? Lebih kurang macam bila korang dah nak terkucil sangat-sangat, dok tertahan-tahan punya lama. Sekali dapat kasi lepas. Perghhh nikmatttt.
Hihihi. Anyway, its a bit warmer as I head south, so todays ride is not as freezing. However the wind is quite strong at certain places.
Melelong-lelong motor kecik aku dibuai angin. Arrived Kamloops and go straight to a biker fren’s place whom I got to know via a bike group.
Greg is not around. He left for moose hunting yesterday. But he left his house key in his mail box and let me stay at his place. Punya la baguih bikerhood spirit. Its gonna be a warm bed for tonite. Syukur alhamdulillah
Greg’s house at Kamloops
Tak dapat jumpa tuan dia, jumpa motor dia jer.
Greg’s pic on the wall, taken at the same spot which I had mine last week.
Thank you for the trust Greg!
27 Sept 2015
Cantiknya!
Scenic ride to Kamloops today. Its hard to keep my eyes on the road. Orang Malaysia jangan jeles nooo…kat sana jerebu ehh? – North Shore Kamloops BC
I got some PMs. They said,
“Akak, jangan la camping macam tu. Bahaya.
I will reply here so that lepas ni jangan ada yang hantar PM macam ni lagi ok.
Adik, tak de sape yang nak camping kat negara sejuk time-time penghujung September dengan cuaca yang tak menentu & suhu cecah takat beku.
It looks fun in the pic, but do u know how I suffered braving the cold night till morning? I never get a quality sleep.
Sejuknya hingga ke tulang hitam. There’s one time it rained so heavy that even though my tent is waterproof, but its not weatherproof. I had to run to the park toilet which is heated and sleep on the chair .
Nasib baik toilet kat sini very clean, wangi, cantik & sangat terjaga.
Its freezinnnn here. Brrrrr. Beku jari semua. Good mornink everyone. Kat sana sejuk ke panas?
In the morning, its no fun at all to pack my tent when its really cold and all the stuff are wet.
Do you have any idea how pain it is when the cold burns your fingers but you have to tahan the pain and keep packing everything slowly (movement tends to get really slow when its cold) until everything is done?
It had been few mornings that I packed my camping stuff under the rain. Took me 1.30 hrs to pack everything & tied them on the bike. I had no choice but to camp because this country is very pricey.
Depending on place @ town, the cheapest room cost CAD70 = approx RM230 per night (you cannot get this price at popular tourist attractions, it will be more).
A tent space for 2m x 2m at a paid camp site is CAD25 = approx RM100.
Saya bukan orang kaya. I don’t have big money in my account but I have big dream. So, for people like me, camping is the only option as I am not traveling for a week or two but for one whole year.
Conclusion, kalau you rasa concern about my health & safety, I appreciate donations so that I can sleep at a better place. If you are not willing, then diam-diam I sudah lah. Tak perlu kata apa-apa. SILENT IS GOLDEN. Thanks for the understanding.
